Every image tells a story.
VeriChain makes sure it's true.

VeriChain works like a tamper-evident seal on a document — except it's invisible, automatic, and travels with the image wherever it goes.

1

The moment the photo is taken

When you take a photo with a VeriChain-enabled app, a unique digital fingerprint is created from the image's exact pixels. It's like a wax seal on an envelope — if anything inside changes, the seal breaks. This fingerprint is signed by the photographer's unique identity key, which never leaves their device.

2

Every edit is recorded, not hidden

VeriChain doesn't prevent editing — it records it. Each time the image is adjusted, cropped, or colour-corrected, a new signed entry is added to the image's record. Nothing is deleted from the history. This means you can see exactly what was changed, when, and by whom — right back to the original capture.

3

The record travels with the image

The image and its full provenance record are bundled together in a single file. Whether it's shared via message, email, or news wire, the record goes with it. You don't need to trust the sender — the file itself proves its own history.

4

Anyone can verify it

Open the file in VeriLens and within seconds you'll see: who took the photo, what device they used, whether it's been edited, and a confirmed identity from the VeriChain Directory. No technical knowledge required — just a clear, honest verdict on whether the image is what it claims to be.

Proving identity, not just integrity

A tamper-evident record proves that an image hasn't been altered — but it doesn't tell you who took it. The VeriChain Directory closes that gap.

When a VeriChain user registers, their identity is linked to their signing key in a curated, secure directory. When you verify a photo, VeriLens looks up the signer automatically — telling you exactly who stands behind the image.

The VeriChain Directory is not open to arbitrary registration. Only apps within the VeriChain ecosystem can create verified identities — ensuring that every entry in the directory represents someone who genuinely captured or edited an image through a secure, trusted pipeline.
